The next total solar eclipse will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, visible from northern Russia, Greenland, Iceland, a tiny part of Portugal, northern Spain, and the Balearic Islands. It will be the first total solar eclipse visible from mainland Europe since 1999 and a rare low-Sun, “sunset eclipse”. Outside the path of totality, a partial solar eclipse will be visible across much of Europe, most of Canada, parts of the northern United States, and northwestern Africa.
